Every day from now until Christmas Eve we will reveal more pieces and characters for our scene, tell a little bit more of the Christmas story, read a short passage of scripture, sing a Christmas Carol, and maybe enjoy a treat or two. I share this as a resource to other parents, and as a fun way of connecting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Today\u2019s character is from Playmobil kit #4884 and can be viewed\/ordered\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.playmobil.ca\/on\/demandware.store\/Sites-CA-Site\/en_CA\/Product-Show?pid=4884#q=christmas&amp;start=11\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Matthew 1: 18 \u2013 24 (TNIV)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>18<\/b> This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. <b>19<\/b> Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.<br \/>\n<b>20<\/b> But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, \u201cJoseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. <b>21<\/b> She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.\u201d<br \/>\n<b>22<\/b> All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: <b>23<\/b> \u201cThe virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel\u201d (which means \u201cGod with us\u201d).<br \/>\n<b>24<\/b> When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In seeking to establish a family Christmas tradition, this year my wife and I purchased a few Christmas and Nativity scene kits from Playmobil.
