{"id":378,"date":"2013-12-20T09:34:22","date_gmt":"2013-12-20T16:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thirdway.ca\/?p=378"},"modified":"2013-12-20T09:34:22","modified_gmt":"2013-12-20T16:34:22","slug":"playmobil-advent-day-nineteen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thirdway.ca\/?p=378","title":{"rendered":"Playmobil Advent &#8211; Day Nineteen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Today\u2019s wise man and fully stocked camel are part of Playmobil set #4886 and can be viewed\/ordered\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.playmobil.ca\/on\/demandware.store\/Sites-CA-Site\/en_CA\/Product-Show?pid=4886#q=christmas&amp;start=11\">here<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Playmobil has once again demonstrated their theological astuteness by making the wise men a separate package. \u00a0It might even be smart of me to not bring them out until after Christmas or even to hold off on buying the package until a few years after starting the tradition. \u00a0The Magi are still a part of the story, and now that Jesus is here, the celebration continues. \u00a0The first of three racially distinct wise men comes with a fully loaded camel, included a chest full of gold coins. \u00a0We won&#8217;t tell the kids that there are loose coins in that chest, because if we did, they wouldn&#8217;t survive Advent.<\/p>\n<p>Day 19 \u2013 <b>Matthew 2: 1-6 (TNIV)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>1<\/b> After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem <b>2<\/b> and asked, &#8220;Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.&#8221; <b>3<\/b> When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. <b>4<\/b> When he had called together all the people&#8217;s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. <b>5<\/b> &#8220;In Bethlehem in Judea,&#8221; they replied, &#8220;for this is what the prophet has written: <b>6<\/b> &#8221; &#8216;But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.&#8217; &#8220;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today\u2019s wise man and fully stocked camel are part of Playmobil set #4886 and can be viewed\/ordered\u00a0here.
